WHL roundup: ICE plow past Wheat Kings for 4-1 win

WINNIPEG – Zack Ostapchuk scored a goal and added two assists as the Winnipeg ICE defeated the visiting Brandon Wheat Kings 4-1 in Western Hockey League action on Sunday.

Owen Pederson, Evan Friesen and Connor McClennon also scored for the Eastern Conference-leading ICE (52-9-1-0), who led 1-0 after the first period and 4-0 heading into the third.

Nate Danielson scored for the Wheat Kings (26-29-8-0), who outshot the ICE 31-28.

The ICE went 2-for-5 on the power play, while the Wheaties were 0-for-2.

SASKATOON, Sask. – Keaton Sorensen scored twice and added an assist as the visiting Prince Albert Raiders crushed the Saskatoon Blades 8-1.

Julian Cull and Connor Dale also scored for the Giants (25-29-5-3), who were outshot 35-27.

Zac Funk and Hudson Thornton scored for the Cougars (33-24-6-0).

SILVERTIPS 5 CHIEFS 4 (SO)

EVERETT, Wash. – Jackson Berezowki scored the lone goal of a three-round shootout as the Everett Silvertips edged the visiting Spokane Chiefs 5-4.

Jesse Heslop scored twice for the Silvertips (31-29-2-1), while Kaden Hammell and Road Woodward netted singles.

Cade Hayes, Jake Gudelj, Chase Bertholet and Tommaso De Luca scored for the Chiefs (14-39-4-5), who were outshot 45-29.

KENNEWICK, Wash. – Marcus Pacheco scored the lone goal of a five-round shootout as the visiting Kelowna Rockets defeated the Tri-City Americans 5-4.

Max Graham scored twice for the Rockets (26-34-3-0), while Adam Kydd and Andrew Cristall netted singles.

Deagan McMillan, Alex Serraglio, Tson Greenway and Ethan Peters scored for the Americans (29-26-5-3), who outshot the Rockets 41-29.
