A release from the Brooks detachment states at 8 a.m. on Tuesday morning a resident was warming up his vehicle and returned to find an unknown man in the car. The owner attempted to stop the theft, but the culprit drove away quickly, leaving the man with minor injuries. Police are looking for a blue Toyota Corolla with a scratch on the driver’s side rear bumper. It bears Alberta licence plate CDN-8566. The suspect is described as a 40- to 60-year-old man with light “weathered” pockmarked complexion, a round face and large nose, stocky build and ear-length brown hair. He is a smoker. Anyone with information should contact the Brooks detachment at 403-794-4400. Accident at Coaldale RCMP say they believe alcohol was a factor in a single-vehicle crash that occurred at 5 p.m. on Monday at the intersection of Highway 3 and the entrance to the town of Coaldale. Mounties stated the 30-year-old man lost control of his 2023 Kia Rio and went through the intersection and into the ditch. He was not injured, but was charged with impaired driving. 11
