https://www.medicinehatnews.com@MedicineHatNews Exploration company Global Helium says it has optioned a major land base south of Medicine Hat to look for the valued element in mature natural gas wells. The Calgary-based company announced Tuesday it has an agreement to drill one test well on land controlled by a large, but unnamed mineral rights holder. The result of that well could lead to exercising options on 32 sections (about 20,500 acres) of land in vicinity that the company calls the “Manyberries Helium trend.” Global Helium president Jesse Griffith said he was encouraged to “expand our land base into this well-known helium producing region of southeastern Alberta. “Our team has identified this very specific area of that trend as being clearly high potential. The team is very eager to expand our position in this area and, importantly, to executing on our corporate objective of drilling and testing helium prospects in early 2023. The company currently holds helium rights on leases totalling 1.7 million acres in Saskatchewan. Two core areas exist around Regina and Swift Current. In November it announced it would build onsite gathering and initial processing plant in Rudyard, Mont., west of Havre. 8
