The lobbying firm of former Medicine Hat MP Monte Solberg will expand to cover the Ontario and federal governments, New West Public Affairs announced on Monday.

As well, it will hire several former advisers that include former senior Alberta government officials.

New West was created in 2013 by Solberg following his retirement from elected office. It advises clients on governmental relations, public policy and capital requests.

“I couldn’t be prouder of the team and the success we’ve had for our clients over this last 10 years,” says Solberg, CEO of New West Public Affairs. “We’re now excited to be able to offer those services to clients in Ontario and nationally under the leadership of (new managing director) Saeed Selvam.”

Selvam is a former senior policy official with Google and will operate the central Canada branch of the Calgary-based consulting firm.

The release also notes that New West has hired two former officials with Premier Jason Kenney’s office as senior consultants.

Charlie Beldham, Kenney’s director of operations, and Christine Myatt, Kenney’s communications director, will join New West, along with Keith Gardner, an issues manager of Rachel Notley when she occupied the premier’s office.
