https://www.medicinehatnews.com@MedicineHatNews Hatters and residents near CFB Suffield should be aware of a planned munitions reduction scheduled to take place this week. Canadian Army officials stated in a release Tuesday that planned explosions of stockpiled, obsolete or aging shells and other explosives will take place Tuesday (Dec. 14), or the following day if needed. That will produce large explosions on an intermittent basis, and accompanying noise and smoke at the facility northwest of the city. It is common to hear live artillery firing and other such detonations as far away as Medicine Hat. The work will be conducted by British Army Training Unit Suffield. Several times each year it disposes of material that is either unsafe or uneconomical to return to the United Kingdom, according to the release. 7
