QMJHL Roundup: Wildcats edge Mooseheads 5-4 behind wild comeback

MONCTON, N.B. – Maxim Barbashev netted the game-winning goal 18:06 into the third period as the Moncton Wildcats defeated the Halifax Mooseheads 5-4 on Sunday.

Barbashev’s goal capped a run of five unanswered goals for Moncton (12-10-0-1) after going down 4-0 by 6:26 of the second period.

Alex Mercier, with two goals, Vincent Labelle and Etienne Morin also scored for the Wildcats. Jacob Steinman made 26 saves.

Evan Boucher scored two goals while Zachary L’Heureux and Mathieu Cataford added one apiece for Halifax (14-7-2-1). Mathis Rousseau stopped 25-of-30 shots.

ISLANDERS 4 EAGLES 3 (SO)

SYDNEY, N.S. – Jakub Brabenec scored the shootout winner as Charlottetown (11-12-2) defeated Cape Breton (8-12-2-1). Giovanni Morneau, who netted two goals in regulation, scored as the first shooter for the Islanders while the Eagles missed on both of their chances.
