Brooks woman facing charges after drugs and cash seized

A women in Brooks faces charges of drug trafficking after regional organized crime investigators say they seized $15,000 in drugs and cash earlier this month.

Officials with Alert Medicine Hat say local officers and Brooks Mounties took part in the investigation that turned up 95 grams of cocaine and smaller amounts of methamphetamine and magic mushrooms, along with $5,300 in cash, on Oct. 6.

Charged is 52-year-old Doris Meilleur of Brooks, with counts of drug trafficking, drug possession and other drug-related charges. She will next appear in court Nov. 2.

Knife-point robbery

Brooks Mounties are looking for three men after one pulled out a knife while absconding with a 10-year-old’s cellphone.

The assault took place at about 8 p.m. on Oct. 24 in the Uplands Road area of Brooks, and resulted in minor injuries.

The three culprits are described at light-skinned males who wore dark clothing.

Plumbers pilfer

RCMP in Milk River say two men from Coutts have been charged after a homeowner’s security system taped the contractors removing items from the house.

On Oct. 6, officers opened the file after a homeowner told them they had called a business to help rectify some plumbing issues, but “many items” subsequently went missing.

Glenn Terry Thiessen, 61, and Martin Norman Kalua, 51, both residents of Coutts are charged with theft under $5,000 and next appear in Lethbridge Provincial Court on Jan. 13, 2023.
