Alberta Marlin Aquatic Club opens season over weekend

The Alberta Marlin Aquatic Club attended its first swim meet of the season, with 49 swimmers competing in the “LASC Fall Challenge” at the University of Lethbridge. There were 10 swimmers competing in their very first winter club competition.

Top 10 finishers from the club were:

10 and Under

Gage Anderson (10) took first in the 200 metre free, finished second in the 200 m free relay, 200 m mixed free relay and 100 IM and third in the 50 m fly and 50 m free.

Nayla Berg (10) finished first in eight races: the 200 m free, 200 m breast, 100 m free, 50 m free, 100 m breast, 200 m free relay, 100m back and 200 m medley relay. Berg also finished second in the 50 m back, 200 m mixed free relay and 50 m breast.

Emily Carter (10) finished third in the 200 m free relay, 50 m breast and 200 m medley relay.

Carleigh Gainsborough (9) took a third place in the 200 m free relay and 200 m medley relay.

Abigail Holden (10) was third in the 200 m free relay.

Breagh Kohlman (10) finished first in the 50 m Fly, 50 m breast, 100 m IM, 200 m free relay & 200 m medley relay. Kohlman finished in second in the 100 m free, 100 m breast, 200 m mixed free relay and took third in the 200 m free.

Lillian Liebenberg (7) was third in the 200m medley relay.

Olivia Liebenberg (10) finished in first of the 200 m free relay, 200 m medley relay and second in the 200 m free.

Olivia McWilliams (9) was third in the 200m free relay and 200 m medley relay.

Jack Mulligan (10) took third place in the 200 m relay.

Austin Seeley (9) finished second in the 200 m mixed free relay, and third in the 200 m free relay.

Izaak Smith (10) took third in the 200 m free relay.

Sadie Solven (10) was first in the 200 m free relay and third place in the 100 m breast and the 200 m medley relay.

11-12-year-olds

11-year-old Lauren Gainsborough finished third in the 200m free relay and 200 m medley relay.

Estelle Grisak (11) and Jordyn Jackson (11) both finished third in their 200 m free relay races.

Lily McWilliams (11) took third place in the 400 m free, 200 m free relay and 200 m medley relay races.

Jordyn Nikiel (12) finished in second place of the 200 m free relay.

Aliya Seeley (12) was second place in the 400 m free and 200 m free relay race and third in the 200 m free and 200 m medley relay.

13-14 year-olds

Eden Albers (14) took second place in the 200 m free relay.

Abigail Begin (14) was second in the 200 m IM and 200 m free relay race and third in the 200 m medley relay.

Morgan Hobson (14) took second place in the 200 m free relay and third in the 400 m free, 50 m breast and 200 m medley relay.

Kemah Kohlman (14) took third place in the 200 m medley relay.

Kora Kurpjuweit (14) was second in the 200 m free relay and third in the 200 m medley relay.

Caen McWilliams (13) took second in the 200 m back and third in the 400 m free.

Sophia Solven (12) was second place in the 200 m free relay.

Ava Wentzel (12) finished in second in the 200 m free relay and third in the 200 m medley relay.

15-18 year-olds

Jaivyn Barabe (17) won the 50m breast, took second in the 100m IM and was third in the 200 m medley relay.

Kristin Hollingworth (16) won the 200 m breast and 100 m free, finished second in the 100 m breast and was third in the 50m breast, 100 m IM and 200 m medley relay.

Jocelyn MacPhail (16) came third in the 100 m fly, 200 m back and 200 m medley relay.

Maria Pachan (16) was third in the 200 m medley relay.

Ashton Scholly (17)finished in first in the 100 m back, second in the 50 m back, 100 m fly and 100 m free and was in third during the 50 m free.

Hunter Skrove (15) took third in the 100m breast.

Next up for the club is the qualifying “Cascade Speed, Provincial series” meet where eight swimmers will be showcasing their speed. Their first home meet is the AMAC Fall Invitational on Nov. 18-20, at the Big Marble Go Centre.
