Hawks beat Vikings to secure first place

The Hat High Hawks set themselves up for the playoffs.

The Hawks beat the Crescent Heights Vikings 24-6 Friday night at the Methanex Bowl to secure first place in the Rangeland Football Conference in the last week of the regular season. The Vikings, with the loss, will end their season in second place.

Hat High opened the scoring in the first quarter with a rushing touchdown from Ryder Parker. They added to their offence in the second quarter with another rushing touchdown, that one from Kaeden Buckler.

The Vikings answered back with a throwing touchdown from QB Carter Schneider to Axxel Foley. Crescent Height’s field goal was blocked as the game heading into halftime at 14-6.

The third quarter was a back and forth affair with neither team scoring. It wasn’t until the fourth quarter when Hat High added a field goal and late touchdown to set their final lead to 24-6.

With the victory the Hawks will face fourth place in the league, which is being decided Friday night in Brooks between the Buffalos and the McCoy Colts. The Vikings will face the winner between Brooks and McCoy who will finish third in the RFC.

Those playoff game times are yet to be announced.
