An afternoon celebration ahead of this autumn’s Grey Cup game in Regina will be staged Sunday in Abbey, Sask., about 60 kilometres northeast of Leader.

Richardson Pioneer is sponsoring the tour of the trophy to six small-town locales in the province over the next two months. The grain handler will also provide a $25,000 donation for community projects, which in Abbey will be updates to playground equipment.

Food and beer gardens open at 2 p.m. along with music and entertainment, the Roughriders mascot, cheer team and alumni.

Water work

A boil water advisory for the town of Bow Island over the weekend was lifted on Monday, according to Alberta Health Services.

A broken water main in the town led to order on Sept. 6 that tap water should be boiled before it was ingested or used in food preparation. With the work completed and system’s water tested by health inspectors, the advisory was lifted at 3 p.m. on Sept. 12.
