https://www.medicinehatnews.com@MedicineHatNews A Medicine Hat man has been charged after police found a rifle and other weapons among a small amount of drugs during a search of a Southwest Hill home on Aug. 30. Police state in a release from the ALERT organized crime team that they seized a rifle, ammunition, a crossbow and a taser along with evidence of drug trafficking. “Clearly there were a variety of dangerous weapons seized during this investigation and what is most concerning is the home’s proximity to a junior high school,” said Staff Sgt. Ryan Thorburn. Police say the search found weapons, 15 grams of fentanyl, 31 grams of methamphetamine and about $6,300 in cash. James McNulty, 41, was charged with drug trafficking, careless use of a firearm, possession of a prohibited weapon, possession of proceeds of crime and unauthorized possession of identity documents. He was released from custody and is next scheduled to appear in Medicine Hat Provincial Court on Sept. 29. Break and enters Police are asking the public for more information after they arrested an unnamed man in connection to a rash of commercial and residential break-ins this week. A police statement says the break-ins occurred overnight hours on Wednesday and early Thursday morning in the Ross Glen, East Glen and Crestwood areas.
