On July 16, the Medicine Hat Community View Lions Club will be holding the first of four summer fundraising barbecues at Golden Sheaf Park on Rattlesnake Lake. Nancy Crowley of the Lions Club said, “We do barbecues on an ongoing basis to raise funds to give back to the community. This is the first year at Rattlesnake. We’ve got a nice schedule and we are happy about that.” The barbecue will be at the Lakeview Site in Golden Sheaf Park, near the dock and playground by the lake. Hamburgers, cheeseburgers, hot dogs, fries, poutine, soft drinks and bottled water will be available at reasonable prices. New for this event is the Square Payment system so patrons can use debit or credit cards. “Many people don’t carry cash anymore,” stated Crowley, “and have been asking for it, so we are excited to have it in place now.” The Medicine Hat Community View Lions Club was started in 2009 as a family-oriented club welcoming members of all ages. They raise funds and offer volunteer services for organizations throughout the city and have given more than $300,000 to the local community since its inception. HALO, Hatters for Ukraine, the Mustard Seed, Ronald McDonald House, MHC Rattlers and mental health organizations have all benefited from fundraising by the Lions Club. The barbecue will be from noon to 6 p.m. Saturday. Community View Lions Club also has a Facebook page to check out for more information. 7
