https://www.medicinehatnews.com@MedicineHatNews An arrest warrant has been issued for a Cypress County woman who is on bail and facing firearms charges. Cecily Rae Mathers, 27, was charged along with a man in May after Brooks RCMP officers found two loaded sawed-off rifles, ammunition and drug paraphernalia in a car travelling near Bassano. She was granted bail, including a condition of remaining under 24-hour house arrest, but on Tuesday, the relative who acted as the surety asked Provincial Court Judge Paul Pharo to come off the file as the accused is no longer in contact. Crown prosecutor Jase Cowan supported the application and requested a warrant be issued for Mather’s arrest. Defence attorney Brad Kraus took no position, saying he has had no recent contact with his client but would remain as the attorney of record for the time being. Mathers was arrested on May 11 along with a man who initially gave a false name to police. In early June, police said they had correctly identified the man at Dexter Louis Showers, of Medicine Hat. Authorities are now seeking his arrest stating the 31-year-old should be considered armed and dangerous. He faces a total of 20 charges including weapons offices and providing a false name to police. He stands five-foot-10, weighing 154 pounds and has blue eyes. Murder charge A Brooks man accused of second-degree homicide of a women in that city saw his matters postponed until next week so he can retain counsel. Mat Bangoang Choap was arrested on June 22 after Mounties were called to an apartment complex where the woman, Tamara Debbie Soosay, was unresponsive. Choap, 35, was not present at his first appearance on the charge on June 27 as he suffered a medical issue. On Tuesday in Brooks Provincial Court the matter was adjourned to July 20. 15
