The Medicine Hat Tigers have released their home contests for the 2022-23 WHL regular season. The club, alongside the rest of the Western Hockey League, announced Thursday all of their 34 home dates. The Tigers will kick off their 53rd season at Co-op Place against the Lethbridge Hurricanes on Sept. 24 at 7 pm. New this season, all of the Tigers’ Sunday home games will start at 4 p.m., with game times for the six other days of the week remaining 7 p.m. The Tigers have two Sunday home contests this season, Nov. 27 against the Prince Albert Raiders and Feb. 5 against the Regina Pats. The Victoria Royals and former Tigers forward Teague Patton visit Co-op Place Oct. 29., marking the first Western conference opponent in the Hat since the Spokane Chiefs visited on Feb. 22, 2020. The rest of the WHL’s B.C. division – the Vancouver Giants, Kelowna Rockets, Prince George Cougars and Kamloops Blazers – will also play in Medicine Hat this season. When Kamloops rolls into the Hat on Feb. 25, it will mark the return of former Tigers head coach, Shaun Clouston. The Blazers bench boss was the Tigers head coach for nine seasons from 2008-2019 after serving as current head coach Willie Desjardins’ assoc. coach for five years and an assistant for two. Clouston held the franchise’s wins record with 375 before Desjardins returned and reclaimed the record. The Tigers annual teddy bear toss is slated for Dec. 3 against the Saskatoon Blades, and the regular season will conclude when the Tabbies host the Swift Current Broncos for fan appreciation night Mar. 25. Medicine Hat’s pre-season schedule opens with a road rendition of their Highway 3 rivalry in Lethbridge against the Hurricanes on Sept. 9 before returning to Co-op Place on Sept. 10 for a rematch with Lethbridge. The Tigers’ two final pre-season contests have them in Swift Current on Sept. 16 before returning to the Hat for a rematch with the Broncos on Sept. 17. 10
