The Medicine Hat Bulldogs track & field club competed at the Foote Field Open and U16/U18 Team Alberta Trials last weekend in Edmonton. The Bulldogs picked up a silver, three bronze medals and six top-five placings. Laine Gautier competed at the U16 level and picked up the silver with a personal best in the 800m. That time ranked him second in Alberta this year and 24th all time. He also finished fifth in the 300m with a personal best and fifth in the 1200m race. Devyn Perrett and Lexine Rodriguez Velez both competed at the U16 female level. Perrett picked up personal bests in the 2000m, 1200m and 800m races finishing in fourth, seventh and eighth place respectively. Rodriguez Velez also picked up personal bests in the 1200m and 2000m races with 14th and eighth place finishes. Justina Renke won two bronzes at the U20 female level competing in open women’s category of javelin and discus. The Bulldogs prepare next event is the Alberta Track & Field Provincial Championships in Calgary on July 8-10. 10
