After one weekend off, the World Professional Chuckwagon Association Pro Tour resumed Thursday with night one at the Medicine Hat Exhibition & Stampede. Rae Croteau Jr. had the fast time of the night with a penalty-free run of 1:04.58. Coming off barrel No. 1 in heat No. 11, Croteau, driving the Tornado Projects Ltd. outfit placed first overall for the day by a tenth of a second over defending Medicine Hat Champion Kurt Bensmiller, who placed second on the night. Chad Fike, Kirk Sutherland and Vern Nolin rounded out the top-five fastest times Thursday. The top-three drivers in the aggregate standings after Saturday night will go into Sunday’s championship final heat. 5
