French-fry maker McCain’s is teaming up with Western Tractor to support relief efforts for Ukrainian refugees. In support of Free Fry Day and Ukrainian Refugees, McCain’s is giving away frozen potato products Friday at Western Tractor dealerships across southern Alberta, with monetary donations and new supplies accepted. Those interested can stop by the Medicine Hat dealership from 9-10 a.m. and receive two 3.5-pound bags before donating. All proceeds will be distributed between the groups Hungry For Life, Ukrainian Social Services and Ukrainian Canadian Congress, with a monetary donation goal of $100,000. Fry lovers can also donate supplies to be distributed to needy incoming refugee families. They are not looking for any used items but some examples of the new supplies they need are non-perishable food items, first aid kits, toothbrushes and toothpaste, bed sheets, towels, blankets, socks, diapers and snack items like juice boxes and energy bars for children. Anyone interested in donating can also do so on the Western Tractor website. The other three Western Tractor locations in southeast Alberta – Burdett, Taber and Lethbridge – are also taking part in the fundraising event. 7
