https://www.medicinehatnews.com@MedicineHatNews Two Allowance Avenue intersections in the Flats are now closed to traffic as sites are prepped for upgrades to underground water sewer and storm sewer mains. Work at the corners of Balmoral and Ross streets has lead to detour routes on Woodman Avenue and Ash Avenue. The $3.2-million project includes lines running westward under Balmoral Street, and may not be completed until fall. A separate sanitary sewer re-lining project is noted on the city projects list for eastern length of Balmoral. Hazmat training Medicine Hat firefighters took part in hazardous material training at Medicine Hat College and the Goodyear production plant on Tuesday. Simulated exercises are part of regular response training, according to a city release, and three locations involved this week were clearly marked with signs. Lane closure… at pool Staff at the Big Marble Go Centre will limit lane swimming this morning as a timing system for swim meets is tested. The two-hour closure of lanes, ending at 9:30 a.m., should not affect activities in other areas of the Kinsmen Aquatics Centre. Boat launch The new boat launch near Fire Station No. 1 in Riverside will be closed as concrete and asphalt work is complete this week. Boaters are directed to the launches at Strathcona Island Park or Echo Dale Regional Park. County road work Portions of the Grayburn Road will be closed later this week for bridge construction until September, Cypress County announced on Tuesday. The route, also known as Range Road 12, connects Walsh to the Cypress Hills, with the work area located north of Highway 515. Drivers will be detoured by the contractor, LaFarge Canada, onto Range Roads 11B, 13 and 14, which form a single route. 15
