The Crestwood Recreation Centre will close its doors for the month of July to allow for staff to perform “necessary maintenance” in the pool area. The entire facility – including the pool and fitness area – will be closed to the public until Tuesday, Aug. 2. “This scheduled maintenance is routine work which needs to happen to ensure everything beneath the surface is operating efficiently, as well as address any required repairs identified since the reopening in February,” Medicine Hat director of parks and recreation James Will says in a release from the city. “This will include the repair and replacement of some tiles within and around the pool. “This type of work is always anticipated with our indoor facilities, and requires staff to drain the pool in order to perform a proper inspection and repairs. Similar to the Big Marble Go Centre annual shutdown in August, this work is best performed in the summer months when our outdoor pools are open for the season.” Regular scheduled activities such as aqua fit will continue as normal until the closure. Those outdoor pools include the Hill and Strathcona Pool, which will open for the season on Friday. Crestwood memberships will be honoured at these locations, as well as the Big Marble Go Centre, for the duration of July. 7
