The JV Medicine Hat Hawks and McCoy Colts were not to be out done by their SV counterparts. Both school’s JV squads picked up wins Friday in Milk River at the Tier 2 Provincial Tournament. The McCoy JV Colts split a pair of games to earn a berth in a semifinal game on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. In the Colts first game they defeated JT Foster High School by a score of 12-1. Tate Bowal and Cole Carlson combined to throw a no-hitter allowing one unearned run in the six-inning game. Pryce Velichko was the Colts offensive catalyst going 4-for-5 with two runs scored, 3 RBIs and two stolen bases. Beck Boiteau had a double and a triple for McCoy. In their second game, the JV Colts were defeated 10-9 in eight innings by the MHHS JV Hawks. Numerous pitchers took a turn on the mound for both teams with Chayse Lefler earning the win for MHHS. Merrick Kurpjuweit was 4-5 while Boiteau had two hits and 3 RBI for the JV Colts. Mace Carriere was 3-4 with 3 RBI for the JV Hawks who have earned a spot in a semifinal vs the Notre Dame Hounds at 10 a.m. Saturday morning. 7
