Hatter Spencer Mann is getting ready for the upcoming Skills Canada National Competition being held in Vancouver this Thursday to Saturday. Mann is a steamfitter/pipefitter apprentice at Boomers Services and in his second-year of study at Medicine Hat College. Mann took part in Skills Canada’s provincial competition earlier this month, where he placed first for his three-piece miter with true wye. “I practised and studied a lot before-hand, putting in about 40 hours of practise after work and school,” Mann said. “I am extra nervous (for the national competition). It’s a lot to take in and prepare for, but I will continue to practise a lot and ask a ton of questions.” 4
