Kessler leads SALTA with all-around title at Alberta Compulsory Championships

Emerie Kessler led a strong performance from SALTA Gymnastics Club athletes with a Level 3 all-around gold at the Alberta Compulsory Championships in Lethbridge, May 13-15.

Kessler placed third in the vault, bars and floor exercise, as well as second on the balance beam to earn the best all-around score for the Junior Olympic Level 3 category.

“I thought I did really good, and I’m really proud of myself and all of my teammates,” Kessler said in an email to the News. “I think we all did awesome and it was really fun too.”

SALTA teammate Adriana Mealey finished with personal bests in two Level 4 events, including a silver medal finish in the vault, while Brynnley Gertner took home the gold on the balance beam.

Skylar Berner, Kenzie Christiansen and Alexis Hayward were also in action for SALTA at the event.

“The best part for us is watching how hard these girls work, and then getting to show off their skills,” said SALTA competitive coach Tayler Sweet.
