Italian Open returns to Lethbridge Country Club
By Justin Seward - Lethbridge Herald on May 6, 2022.
The Chinook Regional Health Foundation has confirmed that the Italian Open will return this August to the Lethbridge Country Club after having to cancel the last two years due to COVID-19.
The Open is in its 25th year and focuses on giving back to health care within the community.
“The event is certainly known as a one-of-a-kind tournament that’s operating in southern Alberta,” said Allan Bartolcic, executive director of Chinook Regional Hospital Foundation.
“You can look at the other tournaments within the area and no other tournament is literally the test of time over the last 25 years. We’re a longstanding event. It’s a prestigious, but yet a very fun event and a lot of members of the community are very excited.”
Bartolcic thinks with the tournament going ahead this year, it gives people a sense of normalcy.
“It reacquaints people that they haven’t seen in a long time,” he said.
“And really leading that sense of community and pace in a face-to-face interaction. It’s very important not just for the Foundation, but also for the community.”
Proceeds from the tournament will go to the greatest needs of the hospital, in particular the cardiology unit.
There will be closest to the hole, hole-in-one and longest drive prizes and more details are yet to be determined.
“This year, being it’s the 25th anniversary, and we’re certainly looking to do something special for the 25th year as well,” he said.
Anyone can participate and can now register at
http://www.crhfoundation.ca until the beginning of June.
The golf tournament is a Texas Scramble format and the hope is for a strong turnout.
The Italian Open will tee-off on Aug. 10.
