SAHA players earning deals after academy’s second season

South Alberta Hockey Academy players have been putting pen to paper.

Defencemen Cole Unger and Connor Frost, of SAHA’s U18 men’s prep squad, signed with the AJHL’s Calgary Canucks this week. Unger had 11 assists in 35 contests at the CSSHL this year to Frost’s three assists in 27 games.

Unger and Frost will join SAHA forward Elijah Anderson, who signed with the Canucks on April 14. Anderson was SAHA’s second leading scorer with 14 goals and 44 points in 36 games.

A day later, forward Dayden Collier signed with the MJHL’s Niverville Nighthawks after scoring 12 goals and 24 points in 35 games for SAHA. All four were a part of SAHA’s Mac’s Tournament win on April 10.

SAHA’s U18 Female team had two players commit to university’s this off-season. Janaya Laqua committed to McKendree University to play ACHA Division 1 hockey. Laqua had three goals and eight points in 27 games this year. Alyssa McCasey was accepted to the Schulich School of Engineering at the University of Calgary. In her final CSSHL season, McCasey had four goals and 19 points in 27 games.

SAHA’s Kendal Davidson was named a finalist for CSSHL Female U18 Prep Top Defenceman on Thursday after putting up 11 goals and 19 points in 25 games for SAHA this season.
