Rattlers honour their athletes with awards night

The Medicine Hat College Rattlers were able to celebrate their athletes for the first time in three years.

The Rattlers held their 50th annual athletic awards night for the first time since 2019 on Friday.

Jayden Dudas of the Rattler golf team and Kate Rozdeba of the women’s basketball team were the big winners Friday night, taking home the male and female athlete of the year awards, respectively, along with other honours.

Along with the team awards, several other awards were also handed out. The Lisa Tschritter Memorial Award went to Jordan Biggar from men’s basketball and Charlie Humphrey was named the Rattlers fan of the year.

Ella Nichols, women’s golf and volleyball, was named the female rookie of the year and Dudas, along with being named male athlete of the year, was the male rookie of the year.

The Rattlers also recognized two of their athletes being named ACAC rookies of the year Dudas, ACAC Golf, and Ross Wilder ACAC South Division Soccer.

Over the fall and winter sport seasons, the Rattlers took home eight ACAC medals, four gold, two silver and two bronze. The Rattlers also collected two medals at the CCAA National Championships, one gold and one bronze.
