https://www.medicinehatnews.com@MedicineHatNews Two classical musicians who are touring Alberta on a tandem bicycle to support aid for Ukraine will be in southeast Alberta this weekend for a pair of concerts. Cellist Mari Coetzee and her partner William Poffenroth will perform at St. Barnabus Church at 2 p.m. Sunday with an array of local musical guest performers. Admission in free, but the pair are asking for pledges for a planned 1,263-kilometres bicycle journey across the province. That distance represents the geographical breadth of Ukraine, and the hope is to raise a total of $5 per kilometre for the bike trip. Half the money from the effort will go to directly supporting a Canadian family which is travelling to Poland to finalize adoption of two daughters who fled the country last month. The balance will be forwarded to the Salvation Army’s effort to provide direct aid to refugees at the borders of Poland, Romania and Moldova. An similar event is set for Brooks on Saturday April 2, beginning at 6 p.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church. More information can be found on the tour at the website pledgeit.org by searching for “Tour Pour Ukraine.” 10
