Several municipalities in southeast Alberta are listed among the latest round of infrastructure programming grants from the federal government and the Federation of Canadian Municipalities.

The grants are meant to help towns and villages create systems to schedule and track maintenance for and replacement projects of things like roads, bridges and other public works.

On Monday the FCM awarded grants between $30,000 and $50,000 to the Town of Taber, Special Areas Board, Hanna and Wheatland County.

Oyen was among nine eastern Alberta municipalities in the Palliser Asset Management Project that each received similar amounts.

In total, 38 municipalities in Alberta shared $1.7 million.
