1923 – LILLIAN IRENE BURKART – 2021

Lillian Irene Burkart of Medicine Hat passed away peacefully on December 30th, 2021 at the age of 98 years. Born to Philip and Anna Ehnisz in a Burstall, SK farmhouse, she was the sixth child in a family of 12 children. She leaves to cherish her memory her two sons, Ken (Yvonne) and Dale (Robbi); five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sister, Viola Deering; as well as numerous nieces and nephews Lillian was pre-deceased by her husband, Herbert, in 2002. Lillian married Herbert Burkart in 1942 and together they farmed near Linacre, SK. In 1946, they left farming so Herb could attend Bible School to prepare for ministry. After completing his training, they lived in Medicine Hat until 1956 where they did part-time itinerant ministry. From 1956 to 1980 they were in full-time pastorates in Macoun, Lipton, Sask. and Winnipeg, Man. Lillian was an ideal pastor’s wife- teaching Sunday School, singing in the choir, entertaining graciously and encouraging people. People responded to her kindness and loved her. She was a devoted mother and grandmother and was a blessing to her family. She was very proud of her family and spoke only positively about her siblings and children. Lillian had many hobbies related to knitting and handwork which she did with care and skill. Lillian spent her final years in the retirement facilities of Chinook Village and Masterpiece Southland Meadows. 1936 ~ EVELYN HERTER ~ 2022

Evelyn Herter of Medicine Hat, passed away on Sunday, January 2nd, 2022 at the age of 85 years. Evelyn leaves to cherish her memory her children, Lyle Herter and Leila (Blaine) Schafer; grandchildren, Kimberly (Kerry) Widmer and Kallen Schafer, all of Medicine Hat, AB. Evelyn was predeceased by her husband, Leonard Herter on June 2, 2020. Evelyn was born on September 2, 1936 near Golden Prairie, SK. As a family we all resided in Medicine Hat, AB. We would like to thank Laurie and all the nurses on 4W at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital for the excellent care of our mom. 1951 – JOHN A. HOFER – 2021

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of John A. Hofer of Boxelder, at the age of 70 years. A loving husband, father, grandpa, brother, uncle and a special friend to many. He was taken into the loving arms of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ whom he had a deep relationship with and was his dearest and nearest friend. He was the first he worshipped every morning and praised every evening. John was hog manager for 25 years then he became gardener and German school teacher for 22 years, His highlight was working with the bees and in the meat shop.
John will be greatly missed by the love of his life Annie. They were married for 48 wonderful years. Together God blessed them with three daughters, Rosa (Jerrylee) of Grandview, Marilyn (Rev. James) of Mayfield, Edna (Joseph) of Viking; nine grandchildren; seven sisters, seven brothers and a very close nephew Mark (Edna) of Boxelder. John was predeceased by his parents and in-laws, a granddaughter Sierra, two brothers, two sisters and three brothers-in-law.

1952 – BRUCE KRUTZLER – 2022

Bruce Calvin Krutzler of Medicine Hat, passed away on Sunday, January 2, 2022 at the age of 69 years, beloved husband of the late Bernadette “Bernie” Krutzler. He leaves to cherish his memory two children, Denine (John) Welsh of Chestermere and Ryan Krutzler of Medicine Hat; three grandchildren, Liam and Caiden Welsh and Kiarra Krutzler; two brothers, Kelly Krutzler (Colleen Bates) of Red Deer; Perry (Joanne) Krutzler and one sister Yvonne Krutzler all of Medicine Hat. He was predeceased by his wife Bernie on October 31, 2019 and by his parents Ida and Leo Krutzler. Bruce was born on August 4, 1952 in Medicine Hat where he was raised and educated. In 1970, he graduated from Medicine Hat High School and married his highschool sweetheart Bernadette Ries on September 1, 1973. In 1972, he began his career with C.P. Rail as a Brakeman and in 2005, retired as a Conductor. Bruce also worked with his father at J&K Traders as well as farming near Tompkins, Saskatchewan. Those who wish to pay their respects may do so at the PATTISON FUNERAL HOME on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Masks are mandatory, Due to the restrictions brought forward by the Chief Medical Officer of Health, indoor public gatherings are to be kept to 50 people therefore a private family service will be held in the PATTISON CHAPEL on Saturday, January 8, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. with Life Celebrant Pat Grisonich. Family and friends who are unable to attend are invited to watch the service by searching for the Pattison Funeral Home Youtube page. The video will go live 10 minutes prior to service time and will remain on the youtube page for future viewing. Interment will take place at Hillside Cemetery. ANN BELL

The death of Ann Bell occurred peacefully at Providence Place on January 1, 2022. Her funeral service will be held on Saturday January 15, 2022, at 11:00AM at W. J. Jones Chapel, 474 Hochelaga St W, Moose Jaw. Della Ferguson will officiate.
Ann was born November 26, 1933, at Kayville, SK to Gus and Flora (Donison) Banilevic. At age 18, Ann moved to Regina to work and lived with her aunt, Mary Krenz. While in Regina she met her future husband Robert (Bob) Bell, and they were married in Moose Jaw on July 3, 1953.
Ann and Bob had two sons: Perry (1960) and Todd (1962).
Over the years Ann worked at a variety of places, including Eaton’s, Safeway, and Econo-Mart.
In 1969 the family purchased a cabin at Buffalo Pound Lake, and this became their summer haven. Many happy days were spent at the lake with the boys and later the grandchildren and their friends. After Bob’s death in 1989, Ann continued to spend her summers at the lake until about four years ago- all the while maintaining her Grandview St residence, as well. She loved the outdoors; nature and the birds, and all the flowerpots she was able to grow and groom.
Ann was an active mom and grandma and never missed any of her boys’ or grandchildren’s events or activities.
She was a member of the 7th Day Adventist Church and was very active in church programs including trips to South America to build orphanages.
As an avid hockey fan, Ann had season tickets to the Moose Jaw Canucks and later Warrior’s games. She regularly attended with her neighbor and good friend, Rose Mary.
Ann was predeceased by her husband Bob (1989) and her great grandson Reeve (2021); her parents; brothers, Steve and Andy Banilevic; sister Doreen Cazes; brothers-in-law Alfred Huber and Clair Cazes. She is survived by her son: Perry (Kerri) and their children Falon (Clint Briggs) & Deegan and Daxton; Adam and his daughter Keirstin; son Todd and his children Kristin (Eric Berg) and Kaia and Aubrie, and Brayden (Amalie). Also surviving are brother Wes (Joyce) Banilevic; sister Ruby Huber; sisters-in-law Marion Banilevic and Gladys Banilevic and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins including a special niece, Adele Payne.
Should friends or family desire, memorial donations in Ann’s name may be made to charity of one’s choice.
