Medicine Hat Catholic Board of Education is celebrating its recent Alberta Education Result Report for the 2020-2021 school year.
“We are incredibly pleased and proud of our Alberta Education Results,” said division superintendent, Dr. Dwayne Zarichny. “Once again Medicine Hat Catholic is one of the highest performing school jurisdictions in the province.”
Zarichny explained to the News that division staff were particularly proud of MHCBE high school completion rates.
“They remain very high with over 93% of our students in 2020 completing high school within three years; whereas the province is sitting at 83%,” said Zarichny. “One item that really stood out from the results last year is our First Nations, Métis and Inuit three-year high school completion rates. They were at 100% which is incredible, given that the provincial rate is 55% and last year our rate was a little over 51%. We’re really happy that those rates have increased and our students are experiencing more success.”
Zarichny believes the key to MHCBE’s success is a dedicated and driven school community of staff, students and parents as well as board-implemented effective governance practices.
