L’Arche group in the running for international music contest
By medicinehatnews on November 17, 2021.
L’Arche Lethbridge is excited to be representing southern Alberta in Season 2 of Battle of the Fans, an online musical competition created by L’Arche Canada, hosted by adults with disabilities.
L’Arche communities from across North America and around the world are battling each other with lip sync performances to spread disability awareness and encourage disability pride.
Each round, competing lip sync videos are posted to YouTube and communities have a day and a half to amass points through views, likes and donations to knock out their opponent in this fast-paced bracketed, single elimination tournament.
Funds raised will be divided with 50 per cent going to the participating community and 50 per cent going to L’Arche communities in need in such diverse places as Honduras, Haiti, Kenya, Bangladesh or Lithuania.
Last week L’Arche Lethbridge advanced through Round 1 with an energetic rendition of Abba’s “Mama Mia,” outscoring the much larger community of L’Arche Daybreak (Toronto) thanks to the support of friends and fans.
This week L’Arche Lethbridge is up against L’Arche Honduras, last week’s overall leader on the scoreboard.
To advance through this round will require at least of doubling of last week’s points.
The song drawn by the Lethbridge competitors this week is “Fame” by Irene Cara. California Dreams Limousines graciously gave the performers a taste of the high life by providing a classic limousine for filming. The video is live on L’Arche Canada’s YouTube channel:

The group has until 4 p.m. today to raise views, likes and donations (the link to donate is in the text below the video). L’Arche Lethbridge is inviting the support of all southern Albertans to see Lethbridge continue to be showcased on this world stage.
