1970 ~ GIL SCOTT ~ 2021

Gil James Scott passed away on Friday, October 29th, 2021 at the age of 51 years. Gil leaves to cherish his memory his mother, Loretta Goodeagle; sisters, Lisa and Jackie; brother, Ivan (Lorraine); as well as nephews, Brandon and Dylan. He was predeceased by his father, James Scott; his maternal grandparents; and his niece, Stacey. Gil was born on May 14, 1970 in Calgary, AB. He completed most of his education there but finished high school in Drumheller, AB. He worked in the construction business in the Medicine Hat and Calgary area. Gil enjoyed leather tooling, bead work, watching hockey games, and spending time with family. He will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved him. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at SAAMIS MEMORIAL FUNERAL CHAPEL on Saturday, November 13th, 2021 from 1:00 to 1:55 pm. Audrey Hazelaar’s life was honoured a short time ago at Hillcrest Church. Acadia and Jericho spoke of their grandmother and recalled memories of of her love and laughter that left sunshine in the hearts of all those she knew and loved.

DORIS SMITH

1925 – 2021

 

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Mother, Doris Edith Smith (nee Sederberg) on November 8, 2021, at the age of 96.

Mom leaves to cherish her memory her two children, Roger (Barb) Smith of Medicine Hat and Patricia (Tom) Simundson of Nanoose Bay; 6 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; brother-in-law, George Voeller; sister-in-law, Dorothy Sederberg; numerous nieces and nephews. Doris was predeceased by her 1st husband, Arthur Moore in 1950; 2nd husband, J. Douglas Smith in 1989; her sisters, Nancy, Ruth, Hildur and Lorraine; her brothers, Lloyd and Victor.

Mom was born the 6th child of 7 to Carl and Ragna Sederberg in Seven Persons, Alberta on October 2, 1925.

She grew up on the family farm and married Arthur Moore in 1947. Together they ran the General Store and Post Office in Seven Persons until his passing in 1950. Mom moved to Medicine Hat and worked as a telephone operator. She met Dad (Doug) at a dance. They were married in 1953 and started a family in 1955. In 1972, they made the big move to Comox, BC on Vancouver Island, where she remained until 2014 when she moved back to Medicine Hat. She resided at Chinook Village and then moved to River Ridge Seniors Village. Her last two years she resided at South Country Village until her passing. A special thank you to all the care givers that have cared for her over the years.

We greatly appreciate each of them.

She loved Bingo and once made it to the BC Provincial Finals in 2003. Mom enjoyed doing puzzles of all sorts, spending time with family and especially her grandkids. She loved to bake and she made the best butter tarts. Mom and Dad spent many years as active members of the Legion in Comox.

She was a very special lady to us all and she will be greatly missed.

In honour of Doris’ wishes, there will be no Funeral Service. An interment will be at Hillside Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, a donation to HALO may be made in Doris’ name.

It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of JEFFREY RICHARD GRAHAM, of Lethbridge, on Friday, November 5th 2021.

Jeffrey is survived by his father Dwayne (Carol) Graham of Lethbridge, brother Michael (Melissa) Graham of Lethbridge, sister Stevie (Jeff) Eliot of Coaldale and nephew Caleb.

Jeff was predeceased by his mother Deanna Williams, grandparents Richard (Kathleen) Graham and Ray (Wanda) Williams.

Jeff was born in Lethbridge on January 29, 1978. He then moved to Cranbrook shortly after, with more moves to Medicine Hat, Fort McMurray and finally returning home to Lethbridge in 1982. Growing up, Jeff enjoyed playing street hockey with the neighborhood kids and hanging out with his younger brother Mike. Jeff was always active in sports, being involved with soccer and curling, where he won multiple Bonspiels in the junior curling program. Jeff made many friends over the years while attending Senator Buchanan, Wilson Junior High and Winston Churchill High School.

Following the passing of his mother in 1995, as well as a near fatal auto accident, his life was forever changed. After a rough year in Lethbridge, Jeff moved to Medicine Hat to start a new life. He began operating Southern Rewind successfully as a Branch Manager for 15 years, where he formed numerous friendships with customers and suppliers. When Jeff was not working, he enjoyed hanging out with his good friend Terry, playing video games and watching Nascar races. He rarely missed a race. When he would return home to Lethbridge for visits, he always made a point to catch a race with his dad, and tried hard to make every visit special with his sister. His family was always held close to his heart.

Unfortunately, Jeff’s demons resurfaced and he set off for a couple months to Langley BC, making a strong attempt to get himself back on track. He moved back to Lethbridge in 2013, where he lived with his brother while he tried to get back on his feet. He re-joined the Southern Rewind team at their main branch. During this time, Jeff found a passion for cooking his favorite foods such as lasagna, peanut butter cookies and bacon which he would share with his favorite dog Charger.

The last few years of Jeff’s life were anything but easy, however, regardless of his own well-being, he would always help anyone in need. He will always be remembered for his giant smile, his contagious laugh and heart of gold. We truly appreciate and thank everyone that tried to help Jeff during his walk through life. He deserved a much better hand than he was dealt.

A Private Family Service will be held on Tuesday, November 16, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. with Patrick Siedlecki officiating. The service will be livestreamed and may be accessed via Jeff’s obituary on the Cornerstone website.

In memory of Jeff, we ask that you please treat everyone you meet with kindness, and support organizations such as Streets Alive in Lethbridge and CAEH in Medicine Hat. You never quite know what someone is going through.

LANT, Atillio (Leo) Angelo

It is with heavy hearts that we say goodbye to Leo Lant, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and brother-in-law. Leo passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 7, 2021 at the age of 82, surrounded by his loving family. He will be dearly missed by his many friends.

 

Leo was born on September 13, 1939 in Coleman, AB. Leo’s love of his family was strong and always present; he was the family anchor and protector. Leo led by example providing family with strong morals and beliefs, strength of character, determination, and commitment to every undertaking with the highest of standards.

 

Leo is lovingly remembered by his loving wife of 30 years, Doris; his children and their partners, Richard (Bobbi) Lant, Diane (Wayne) Henderson, Michael Lant, Kari Meek (Trent), Robin (James) Montgomery and Jeannie Meek; grand-children, Tayler, Rylie, Branden, Jenna, Ryan, Tyler, Sarah, Alex, Kaitlyn, Kelby, Lyndi, Lia, Lakyn, Preston, Ashton, Zander, Jessie; great-grandchildren, Abigail, Waylon, Kaizly; his sister Adeline (Lyle) Asselstine; and his Brother, Larry (Sharon) Lant.

 

Leo was predeceased by his parents, Primo and Rosa; and his former wives, Lydia Lant (Ditschun) and Sheila Lant (Harris).

PETER THIBODEAU

1947 – 2021

 

Peter Thibodeau passed away October 11th, 2021, after a very short battle with cancer, at the age of 74 years. He leaves to cherish his memory, Sue Shafer.

Peter was a kind and gentle soul and could easily be described as an “Old Hippie”.

He started his adventures at the age of 16 when he went to the United States and joined the Marine Corp. At the age of 20, Peter started cooking his way through Mexico, USA and Canada with his final stop in Medicine Hat in 2001. Peter and Niper hitchhiked from Vancouver to Sue Saint Marie at least 4 times. He looked forward to his morning visits by his favorite home care aid, Joyce Bell.
