U18 Hounds remain undefeated

The Medicine Hat Hounds U18 AA hockey team went on a roll earning four points this past weekend to defend an unbeaten streak.

On home ice for both games, the Hounds faced the Central Alberta Selects Friday night with Kyle Woolridge wielding a hot stick to get two goals past the Selects netminder. Jackson Bowal and Brady Mahar each had a goal in the 4-0 win, with two assists from Quin Lacher. Hounds goalie Tyler Wakelam got the shutout facing 14 shots.

On Saturday night, the Hounds beat the Red Deer Elks 3-1 with Kaiden Morin in net. The Hounds outshot the Elks 31-20, with Woolridge, Gavin Smith and Garrecht each netting a goal.

The Hounds lead the South Central Alberta Hockey League with a 4-0-2 record. They host the Foothills Bisons Friday at 7:45 p.m. at the Kinplex, and are on the road Sunday to take on the CRAA Gold in Calgary.

U16 AA Hounds

split weekend

The U16AA Hounds had two games this past weekend with an away game in Lethbridge and a home game against the Calgary Royals Gold.

The Hounds blanked the Hurricanes 6-0 Saturday night with the shutout going to Merrick Kurpjuweit. Two goals came from Hayden Smith with the others coming from Blake Dosenberger, Rhys Schroeder, Kohen McClain and Gaven Hagens.

Sunday’s game was close during the first two periods but the Royals pulled away with a final score of 7-4. The Hounds goals came from Jack Henry, McClain and Dosenberger.

Their next games are at home at the FLC Friday against Airdrie-Bow Valley and Saturday against Red Deer.
