The U16 Goal Diggers Ringette won gold at the St. Albert Ring Turkey Ring this past weekend. The Diggers went un-defeated through four games on route to bringing home the gold.

The Medicine Hat U16 Goal Diggers came away with the gold medal this past weekend in St. Albert’s Turkey Ring tournament.
The team went 3-0 in the round robin, dispatching Sherwood Park 7-0, St. Albert 8-1 and Spruce Grove 8-1. In the final they met another team from the south, North West Calgary Surge. The Goal Diggers came out strong, pressuring the Surge into mistakes, when Pacie Harper got Medicine Hat on the board with her first of four goals. The other goal scorers were Hannah Thompson with three, Jaida Waldagger, Avery Weisgerber and Mackenzie Tindall.
When the final buzzer sounded, the Goal Diggers came away with a 10-3 win, out shooting the Surge 56-18. Kyree Stern-Rebmann was solid all tournament long, allowing only six goals throughout the weekend. The Goal Diggers defence group of Rylin Lehr, Brooklyn Schlenker, Rileigh Tabor, Alexis Unreiner and Isabella Heinrichs were solid in limiting chances all weekend long as well.
The next action for the Goal Diggers is Oct. 24, when they host the South Calgary Whiplash here in Medicine Hat at the Kinplex and FLC.
U14B Impact bring home gold
The MH U14B Impact opened up their season at the St. Albert Ring Turkey tournament with a 7-4 win over the Spruce Grove Hot Shots.
The Impact’s goal scorers were Ryleigh Jackiw, Jordy Provost, Kenzie Provost, Sutton Provost and a hat trick from Erika Want.
In their second game, the Impact beat the home town St. Albert Force by a score of 12-5. Impact goals came from Maren Berstad, Jackiw, Leighton Wright, Margot Kerr, Sophia Stock, while Jordy Provost and Want each had two and Kenzie Provost added a hat trick.
In the final game of the round robin, the Impact beat the Edmonton Warriors by a score of 8-1, with goals coming from Kenzie Provost, Want and Stock, while Wright had two and Jordy Provost had a hat trick.
Going undefeated in round robin, the Impact punched their ticket to the gold medal final where they had a rematch with the Spruce Grove Hot Shots. The Impact won big, with a score of 8-4 to bring home the gold. Ella Seale, Kerr, Wright, Jackiw, Jordy Provost, Sutton Provost and Kenzie Provost (two), all scored for the team in the win.
Sadie Berstad played net for the entire tournament and worked hard in the final when the Impact needed her most. They look to continue their winning streak as they head to Airdrie and Chestemere this weekend for league games.
