The Medicine Hat Goal Diggers U16 ringette team travelled to Strathmore on Sunday and collected a pair of victories against two North West Calgary teams in exhibition. In the first game, the Goal Diggers came out flying and never looked back, defeating NW Calgary 2 by a score of 5-3. Avery Weisgerber got the scoring started 2:50 into the game, which was followed with the goal horn sounding another three times over seven minutes. Pacie Harper scored twice alongside Mackenzie Tindall, and Hanna Thompson who each had one to round out the scoring. Linsey Bechtold was solid in net during the second half to secure the win. Medicine Hat took on another NW Calgary team in Game 2. This time the Diggers did not hold back, out-shooting Calgary 58-16 and winning 8-1. Kyree Stern-Rebmann was in mid-season form, stopping a breakaway in the second half and ending up with the win. Goals came from Kasey Martin, Jordan Weisgerber, Grace Ammann, Brooklyn Schlenker, Karley Stennick, Pacie Harper, and two from Avery Weisgerber. The next action for the Goal Diggers is this weekend, as they travel to St. Albert to play in the annual Turkey Ring, with games on Friday and Saturday, followed by the finals on Sunday. U19 Gators sweep exhibition series Medicine Hat’s U19 Gators got on the ice Saturday with an exhibition doubleheader against South Calgary and the Bow View Aces. The Gators took a 4-2 win over South Calgary to open the day. Amanda Robinson and Kylie Kallenberger carried the offence for the team as they both had two goals in the win at Rocky Ridge Arena. The Gators won a close Game 2, 2-1 over the Aces at Jack Settlers Arena. Dimitria Karamanos scored, and Robinson added her third of the day in the win. Rheagyn Heinrichs started both games in net for the Gators. Their regular season starts this Saturday in Medicine Hat, as they take on the Cochrane Rockies at 12:30 and 3:45 p.m., both games at the Kinplex. 14
