Hockey Hounds Wrap-up

The Medicine Hat U18 AA Hounds started their regular season this weekend with a win and a tie on the road.

On Saturday, the Hounds beat Okotoks 5-2, with Caleb Garrecht netting a pair of goals and an assist, including the game winner on a power-play. Rounding out the scoring was Kadin Pahl, Brady Mahar, and Kyle Woolridge, who were also assisted by Hauck and Bowal. Kaiden Morin faced 28 shots in net for his first win of the regular season, while Okotoks faced 29 shots from the Hounds.

On Sunday, the Hounds visited the Foothills Bisons and battled to a 6-6 tie, outshooting the Bisons 44-27 with Tyler Wakelam in net. Caleb Garrecht and Brady Mahar each had two goals and one assist, with Jackson Bowal and Kyle Woolridge notching a goal apiece. Josh Drefs had three assists.

The Hounds will face the Bisons again on Friday at 7:45 p.m. and CNHA Black on Saturday at 5:30 p.m., both games at the Kinplex.

U16s drop season opener

The U16 AA Hounds played their first game of the season Sunday at the Family Leisure Centre against the Okotoks Oilers.

The Hounds fell 7-1 against a strong offensive Oilers team.

The Oilers outshot the Hounds 41-20 with the lone Medicine Hat goal coming from Madden Kelly. Trae Gow and Gavin Hagens picked up assists on the goal.

The Hounds return to the ice in Sylvan Lake next Saturday against the West Central Panthers.
