Contracts are flowing in Medicine Hat. The Tigers announced Saturday they have signed forward Brett Calhoon to a standard WHL player agreement. The Oliver, British Columbia product was selected by the Tigers 193rd overall in the 2020 WHL bantam draft. Calhoon appeared in 9 games last season for the Okanagan HA Black U17 Prep team of the CSSHL, where he had two goals and nine points in the shortened season. “Brett is an all around 2-way forward with a solid 200 foot game. He contributes at both ends of the rink, plays a heavy game, and makes the oppositions life miserable.” says Tigers director of player personnel Bobby Fox. ” We would like to welcome Brett and his family to the Tigers family.” He is the second 2020 pick the Tigers have signed this week, after inking forward Hunter St. Martin on Friday. Calhoon saw his first action in a Tigers jersey last night as the team traveled to Lethbridge to take on the Hurricanes for their first preseason game this year. Medicine Hat lost the close matchup 3-2 that saw the Tigers dress seven rookies including Calhoon. The Tigers return home to Co-op Place tonight for the rematch with Lethbridge, puck drops at 7 p.m.. 9
