Stolen property found in search leads to arrest in Manyberries

A search of the historic train station in Manyberries turned up what mounties say is property stolen in southwest Alberta.

Bow Island RCMP report that in late August they began an investigation into stolen property and on Sept. 10 obtained a search warrant before finding copper piping, several guns and a trailer that was reported stolen in Coalhurst, Alta.

Travis Jason (“TJ”) Stromsmoe, 41, has been charged with resisting arrest, possessing stolen property over $5,000, forging a vehicle identification number, possessing a dangerous weapon and four counts of unauthorized possession and unsafe storage of a firearm.

He is set to appear in court next on Oct. 6 in Medicine Hat Provincial Court.

Mounties report they are no longer searching for a man last seen in the town on Sept. 10.

They had sought to confirm the wellbeing of Arnold Hofer, 49, in a release, but now report he is safe and well. The public is thanked for their assistance.
