It was a fundraiser fit for a princess.

The third annual 65 Roses Princess Ball drummed up $14,951 for Cystic Fibrosis Canada on Sunday at the Cypress Centre.

“We had so many parents tell us how much fun it was and how their kid was loving this event,” said lead coordinator Dalis Hofer, in an email to the News. “We had so many people donate their time to help for the day and I want to personally thank them for their hearts of gold! Even during a pandemic we still have so many wonderful and careful human beings out there that want to just bring joy to someone else.”

While last year’s event was cancelled due to COVID-19, Sunday brought the three-year total to just over $45,000 raised to fight cystic fibrosis, as well as spread awareness for the most common fatal genetic disease in Canada.

“The main reason for the ball is to raise not only funds for cystic fibrosis, but also awareness for the disease,” said Hofer, who has a daughter with cystic fibrosis. “So that one day CF Canada will be able to help many individuals not only to meet essential daily needs and breathing, but to work toward a brighter and longer future.”

The event included crafts, nail painting, a photo booth, raffles, games, lunch, a local dance studio performance and a huge dance party with some well-known storybook princesses.
