Love bugs? Police Point Park has you covered.

The Medicine Hat Interpretive program at Police Point Park is inviting bug lovers of all ages to get “Hoppin’ with (grass)Hoppers” on Sunday.

The event encourages participants to catch, observe and identify all the different kinds of grasshoppers that can be found at the park.

“There are so many different kinds of grasshoppers jumping and hopping and clicking past us this summer,” reads a release from the Interpretive Program. “Trying to catch them is the fun part! Seeing the differences between the species and recognizing that these insects are important to our ecosystem, makes them, well, just a little less creepy.”

The fun starts at 11 a.m. at the Nature Centre. Anyone interested in participating can call 403-529-6225 to enter. Additional information on the event can be found at natureline.info or on the Police Point Park Facebook page.
