Esther Hilda Krause passed away on August 21, 2021, at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital at the age of 87 years. She leaves to cherish her memory her loving husband of 64 years, Emil Krause; and their children, Ricky (Vicky) and their children Amy and Daniel, Timothy (Elaine) and their children, Andrew and Emily, Lori (Thad) Karwandy and their children, Lois and Cordell, and David (Karen) and their children, Keaton, Jayda and Jenna. Esther was predeceased by her parents, John and Rosina Kruger; her sister, Irene Arndt; her brother and sister-in-law, Emil and Rose Kruger; and her nephew, Bobby. Esther was born on May 4, 1934, and raised on a farm near Hilda, Alberta. She married Emil Krause, a Lutheran pastor, in 1957 and together they raised their four children. Over the course of her life, she made an impact on many people whether through assisting with the ministry or teaching. She accepted many kinds of teaching assignments in various schools in the places she lived. She was a kind and loving woman who took great pride and interest in her children and grandchildren. She worked hard, in close partnership with her husband wherever their journeys took them. Her talents at the piano/organ were warmly welcomed in his parishes, as was her natural ability to lead. She organized Sunday Schools, directed Bible Studies, and was president of the ladies’ group for many years. She will be greatly missed but her legacy of patience, excellence and compassion will continue to inspire her family and all those who knew and loved her. She passed through this life with grace and dignity and we honour her memory as she now walks in the Light with those who have gone before her. 1960 ~ RANDY TAVES ~ 2021

Randy’s life adventure ended suddenly August 10, 2021 on a canoe trip in Banff National Park. Surrounded by friends, he died hearing words of comfort and love. Weighing in at a little more than 4 lbs, fitting in the palm of his doctor’s hand, Randy’s story began in Turtleford Hospital on May 27, 1960. His childhood on the farm shaped him into the man we knew and loved. There was always a touch of the farm boy in Randy, which was evident in his love of the outdoors, his ingenuity, work ethic and colourful language. His cheeky smile and the twinkle in his eyes could be both engaging and unsettling at the same time. He graduated from Turtleford High School in the class of 1978 which consisted of 28 people, many of whom are still friends. At the graduation ceremony he shared the job of creating and reading the class prophesies with Beth Little who- unbeknownst to them-would become his wife. He graduated from the University of Saskatchewan with a Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education followed by an Education degree. His working career took him to Davidson, Fort Qu’Appelle, Lloydminster and finally to Medicine Hat. His career always involved Recreation. The job which brought him the most satisfaction and joy was teaching young adult First Nations students how to create recreation programs within their communities. In both his personal and professional life he enjoyed the role of mentoring and gave to the community. His passion for recreation continued when he retired in May of 2020, as he enthusiastically modelled how to live each day of retirement with joy! Beth planned and organized Randy’s participation in myriad physical activities, most notably, walking, e-bicycling, and hiking. Even without Beth’spersuasion he enjoyed cooking, camping in their trailer, motorcycling, canoeing, attending sporting events and drinking a little coffee in his Bailey’s. Randy loved his wife Beth, his daughters Kaitlin (Dan), Laura (Adam) and Avery (Eric). He and his many stories are remembered by his brothers Lee (Sheila) and Bert, his parents-in-law, Roy and Kathy Little, along with many in-laws, cousins, friends and colleagues. He will be acutely missed by his nephews and nieces, each of whom undoubtedly has a special Uncle Randy story to tell. Randy was predeceased by his parents, Bobby and Netta Taves. A Celebration of Life will take place at the Esplanade Theatre (401 – 1 Street, S.E., Medicine Hat) on August 25, 2021 at 2:30 p.m. The service will be live streamed, and family and friends who are unable to attend are invited to watch the service by searching for the Pattison Funeral Home Youtube page. The video will go live 10 minutes prior to service time and will remain on the youtube page for future viewing. A second Celebration of Life will take place in Turtleford, SK at the community arena at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, August 27, 2021. In lieu of flowers, have Beth over for a meal or give a memorial donation to the Turtleford Spray and Play by writing a cheque to the town of Turtleford (indicating the donation to Randy in the memo line) or sending an e-transfer to rbrand@townofturtleford.com. To e-mail an expression of sympathy, please direct it to: office@pattisonfuneralhome.com subject heading: Randy Taves, or you may visit http://www.pattisonfuneralhome.com and leave a message of condolence.

WILLIAM HERBERT CRANSTON

May 1, 1922 – August 20, 2021

“Call me Bill because that’s my name” – “I just thought I’d drop by and spread a little joy.” Dad was a man with a saying for every occasion. He loved to entertain people with a joke or playing piano and a sing along. We, his family, love you and will miss you, but you will always be in our memories and hearts. You have been a bright light in many people’s darkness and now you are in a place of eternal light and peace. Thank you to my cousins who phoned and visited Dad. It meant so much to him. I want to thank all the kind people of Medicine Hat who helped Dad. People from his condo, church, The Wellington, Collette Care Van, taxi drivers, guitar teacher, banker, accountant, doctors and nurses at the clinics and hospital and passerby who stopped to help Dad with his groceries, getting his walker in and out of his car and parking his car. Thank You Lord for the Wonderful People of Medicine Hat.
Bill will be interred at Ellisboro Cemetery in Ellisboro, SK.
