A 25-year-old man accused of killing an older man in Fort Macleod last May has pleaded not guilty to charges of manslaughter and break and enter to commit an indictable offence.
Cullen Drake Tailfeathers entered the pleas Friday in Lethbridge provincial court, where he also elected to be tried by a provincial court judge.
Linden Blair Grier, 33, of Brocket, Alta., was found dead in a home in Fort Macleod May 24. Police were called to the residence at 2:24 a.m., following a report that a man had been injured. Attempts to save the man’s life were unsuccessful.
Tailfeathers, also of Fort Macleod, was arrested three days later.
Tailfeathers, who was released on bail June 4, is represented by Calgary lawyer Balfour Der. Der and the Crown are expected to meet the judge for a pre-trial conference before Tailfeather’s next court appearance Sept. 10.
