Feds nearly doubling the Canada Gas Tax Grant outlays to municipalities in Saskatchewan

https://www.medicinehatnews.com@MedicineHatNews Ottawa is nearly doubling the Canada Gas Tax Grant outlays to municipalities in Saskatchewan, it was announced Tuesday. The fund’s name officially changed to the Canada Community-Building Grant on June 29. It is administered by the provinces through agreements with Ottawa, pays for municipal infrastructure work like roads and firehalls, and this year will be $65.4 million on top of an additional $62.6 million “top-up” from last year. For major communities in the southwest of the province, that essentially doubles final amounts for Maple Creek town (town, $254,000; district, $130,000), Leader ($105,000) Fox Valley (RM, $40,200; village, $40,200), Richmound ($17,900), Shaunavon ($209,0000), Gull Lake (Town, $127,000), and Burstall (town, $33,800). The difference adds just under $1 million to the grant paid to the City of Swift Current. 7-6
