Two men charged with several criminal offences after they were arrested in Galt Gardens last week, are scheduled to appear in court later this month.
During an investigation by the Lethbridge Police Service’s crime suppression team and priority crimes unit, officers were watching two men as they parked a vehicle and walked into Galt Gardens last Thursday. One of the men was concealing a can of bear spray.
The suspects were arrested without incident, and during a search police seized two cans of bear spray, 16.5 grams of fentanyl, 5.9 grams of methamphetamine,  2.7 grams of psilocybin (mushrooms), a folding knife, collapsible baton and a small amount of cash and paraphernalia consistent with drug trafficking.
Anthony Douglas Johnston, 26, is charged with two counts of drug possession for the purpose of trafficking, two counts of possession of a dangerous weapon, one count of carrying a concealed weapon, and four counts of operating a motor vehicle while prohibited.
Brendan James Taylor, 24, is charged with three counts of drug possession for the purpose of trafficking, two counts of possession of a dangerous weapon, two counts of carrying a concealed weapon, and four counts of failing to comply with release conditions.
Both men had court hearings Monday, but their matters were simply adjourned. Taylor’s next court hearing is set for next Thursday, while Johnston returns Wednesday.
