Farmers’ markets are returning to Lethbridge!
The Lethbridge and District Exhibition and Downtown Lethbridge BRZ will both be operating markets in the city this year.
The Exhibition’s kicks off Saturday at 8 a.m. running until 1 p.m. It will be open every Saturday until Oct. 9.
The Downtown Lethbridge BRZ market will run from July 7 until Sept. 15 each Wednesday from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. on 2 Avenue South between 4 and 5 Streets.
The Exhibition market will be staged in the UFA South Pavilion, accessed by using the south parking lot.
All COVID-19 rules and regulations will be in place at the market. Visitors are being urged to plan their visits in advance by studying the exhibitor map at lethbridgefarmersmarket.ca.
AHS is requiring all exhibitors, attendees, volunteers and staff to fill out a pre-screening form that can be done electronically. It has to be filled out 24 hours before each market.
If guests don’t pre-screen, QR codes will be on site at the entrance so the survey can be filled out on a smartphone.
For those whom this isn’t an option, a staff member with a tablet will input tracing information and ask the screening questions.
Capacity at the exhibition market will be based upon the number of guests with staff stationed at exits to count the numbers of people leaving. Entrance staff will be radioed to allow more people into the pavilion. Gates are going to be closed earlier than the market closing time to give people adequate time to shop.
Everyone is required under Mask Bylaw 6239 to wear a mask or face shield at the market. Exhibitors can set up a permanent barrier as an alternative but they also must wear a mask when they aren’t behind their stall.
Disposable masks will be on sale at the entrance and they must be worn appropriately, covering, nose, mouth and chin. Kids under the age of two are exempt.
No dine-in or seating will be allowed this year.
For social distancing, exhibitor booths are being separated by an eight-foot drape wall beside and behind them, the exception being for exhibitors who request to operate together.
The same rules and regulations will apply to the downtown market when it opens.
