A city man currently in custody facing a range of charges from drug trafficking and housebreaking to firearm offences is refusing to appear before the court. Clayton Hotel has been granted several adjournments due to refusing to appear via CCTV from the Medicine Hat Remand Centre, the court heard during his latest appearance Tuesday. Judge Jerry LeGrandeur granted a further three-day adjournment during the man’s latest appearance. However, he indicated Hotel may need to be brought to the courthouse in person so proceedings can go ahead. Walsh assault accused remains in police custody A Walsh gas station owner accused of assaulting his next-door competitor remains in custody on related charges. Anwar Kamaran was charged last August with assault causing bodily harm in connection with the incident and was released on conditions. In March, Kamaran was arrested again on charges of uttering threats. His latest matter was adjourned to May 11. A trial date on his substantive assault causing bodily harm charges is set for July. Robbery suspect in custody A man facing robbery allegations and who failed to appear for his trial last week has been apprehended. Chol Mayol Ador was arrested after a warrant was issued after the man failed to appear at his trial for allegations stemming from an incident in the city on Dec. 30, 2019. 13
