MARY MARGARET STEWART 1920 ~ 2021It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mary Stewart on Wednesday, March 10, 2021 at the age of 100 years. She is survived by her son, Christopher (Lee); three grandsons, Alex (Lynn), Bill (Sofia) and Ross (Shannon); eight great-grandchildren, Caetlin, Athena, Alek, Viktor, Yeva, Brooke, Bailey and Gavin. A private interment will be held at Hillside Cemetery. A family celebration of Mary’s life will be held when covid-19 restrictions allow. JOYCE FOLKERTS 1939 – 2021 It is with deep sadness that the family of Joyce Minnie Ellen Folkerts (nee Harrison), announce her passing at Masterpiece River Ridge in Medicine Hat on Saturday, March 13th, 2021, at the age of 81, due to Parkinson’s. Joyce was born in Dubuc, SK, attended Lebel Country School and was raised on her parent’s farm in Alida, SK. Mom’s passions were her 3 daughters, 3 grand daughters & 3 great grandchildren. Mom loved spending time with her family & entertaining friends. You would be sure to have the best home cooked meal at Joyce’s table! As a beautiful, young woman, Mom worked at the bank in Carnduff, SK. This is where Joyce met the love of her life, Gary William Henry Folkerts. Upon their first meeting in the bank one day, Gary said to his friend; “I’m going to marry that girl!” and so he did, on Sept. 27,1958 & together raised their daughters in Stoughton, Lang, Ogema, Redcliff & finally Medicine Hat.
Mom will be so missed and lovingly remembered in the hearts of her Daughters; Tammy Herman, Shelley (Rick) Belau, & Taralyn Manary; Grandchildren, Ashley (Ryan) Schwab, Jacey Belau, Lindsey (James) O’Donnell; Great Grandchildren, Seth & Madelyn Schwab & Landon Gary O’Donnell; Sister In-Law, Eleanor Harrison; Nieces & Nephews. Joyce was pre-deceased by her husband Gary in 2016; her parents, Tom & Gladys Harrison; her brother, Elgin Harrison; In-Laws, Gerhard & Tillie Folkerts; her brother & sister-in-law, Delmar & Dolores Hoogeveen. Many thanks to all the staff at Masterpiece River Ridge for the compassionate care Mom received. A private, family service will be held at a later date. ROBERTS Jason Paul Roberts of Medicine Hat passed away on March 9, 2021 at the age of 48. He leaves to cherish in his memory, his daughter Taylor Bolen. Father David Roberts. Step father Lenoard MacDougall, his siblings Jude Roberts, Johnny (Kelly) MacDougall, James MacDougall, Sean Roberts, Andrea Roberts. Jason also leaves behind numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and a great niece. He was predeceased by his beloved mother Elaine MacDougall. Jason was born on June 25,1972 in Lethbridge and spent his lifetime growing up in small towns around Southern Alberta and Southern BC. In his younger years Jason was an athlete who excelled at track and field and baseball. Jason is a carpenter and scaffolder which satisfied his love of building. He was known for being Ceative, very artistic, intelligent, and loyal to the end. Full of laughter and always excited just to experience life to the fullest. The celebration of Jason’s life will be held with family at a later date.
