City has highest COVID numbers in the south

The city of Lethbridge has the highest number of active COVID-19 cases in the south zone.
According to the latest numbers released by Alberta Health on Wednesday afternoon, Lethbridge now has 77.3 per cent of the active cases in the south zone.
Lethbridge has 306 active cases and the whole zone 396 active cases.
The community with the second highest number of active cases in the south zone is Cardston with 47 active cases followed by Medicine Hat with 12 active cases.
The County of Lethbridge has 11 active cases currently. Other communities have single digit numbers Cypress County one, Newell County one, County of Forty Mile two, Taber four.
A spokesperson for Alberta Health declined to answer questions about the possible reasons for the high numbers in Lethbridge but provided details of where some of the outbreaks have taken place.
The numbers provided were taken from data available on Wednesday morning, the spokesperson noted.
The View at Lethbridge had a total of 92 cases but there are no active cases there currently. There were six deaths at this facility that were related to COVID.
Lethbridge Alpha House had a total of 80 cases, with only four currently active. One death was linked to this outbreak.
Five people tested positive for COVID at the Edith Cavell Care Centre in Lethbridge but only one case is still active. One death is linked to this outbreak.
Quest Support group home in Lethbridge had five cases of COVID but they have all recovered.
Blackfoot Family Lodge Society in Lethbridge has had seven people test positive for COVID and six of those are still active.
Haul All Equipment, Lethbridge, reported a total of 14 cases but they have all recovered.
There is currently one active case linked to an outbreak in Chinook Regional Hospital.
In February an outbreak was reported at the Cardston Health Centre with three positive cases identified and there have been two deaths linked to this outbreak.
In April last year the number of COVID cases surged in Brooks in a very short time frame.
Brooks currently has two active cases.
The total number of cases since the beginning of the pandemic is 1363 for that community.
In Lethbridge the total to date is 2367.
To date Alberta Health has announced that there have been 24 COVID related deaths in Lethbridge and 14 in Brooks. Cardston has had 13 deaths and Medicine Hat 17.
