Repeat offender charged with drug offences

On Wednesday, members of the Lethbridge Police Service Crime Suppression Team observed an individual engage in activity consistent with drug trafficking at locations in north Lethbridge, the downtown core and the area of the homeless shelter.
Police arrested a Lethbridge man in the 500-block of 5 Street South and found him in possession of 10.3 grams of methamphetamine, 2.3 grams of fentanyl, 0.4 grams of cocaine and almost $700 in cash.
Jeffrey Steven Martens, 52, has been charged with two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking, possession of a controlled substance, possession of the proceeds of crime and two counts of failing to comply with a release order.
Martens, who was twice charged by LPS for drug-related offences in 2020, has been remanded in custody to appear in court March 8.
