Seniors 75 and up can book vaccine appointments starting today at 8 a.m.

Starting at 8 a.m. on Wednesday, those 75 years old or older can book an appointment to receive the COVID-19 vaccine. To get an appointment time for the first and second dose – given 32-42 days apart – call HealthLink 811. It will also be possible to book a vaccine appointment online: https://www.alberta.ca/covid19-vaccine.aspx To book an appointment you will need to provide your Alberta health-care number and date of birth. A family member can make the booking on behalf of someone else. You must use the same clinic for both the first and second doses. When you arrive for your appointment you will need to have with you a government issued form of identification and your Alberta health card. Anyone in this age bracket who currently lives in a lodge or private supportive living facility will be contacted directly through their care team about when the vaccine will be available on site. “Residents do not need to book their own appointment, or call Health Link to make these arrangements. All arrangements will be made through site leadership and the care teams at each facility,” says the Alberta Health Services website. Families and friends of those over 75 who are eligible to receive the vaccine are encouraged to provide transportation for their loved ones.
