Anna “Anne” Marie White passed away on Thursday, December 17, 2020 at the age of 91 years, beloved wife of Jim White of Medicine Hat. She also leaves to cherish her memory three children, Barclay (Renee) White, Jamie (Janet) White and Ron (Lori) White; eight grandchildren, Matthew (Kimberly) White, Allison (Glen) Trefenanko, Clarke White (Trisha Mattson), Adrienne (Monica) Madhavpeddi, John White, Jenny (Ali) Bozorgzad, Jill (Doan) Galarneau and Jolene (Justin) Friesen; fifteen great grandchildren, Joel, Josh and Olivia White, Brooke and Leah Trefananko, Daine Mattson and Liam White, Stella, Spencer and Shephard Bozorgzad, Ford and Anna Galarneau, Anders, Arabella and Benson Friesen; six brothers and sisters and their families. 1938 ~ WES SCHNEIDER ~ 2020

Wesley ” Wes” Jacob Schneider of Medicine Hat passed away on Tuesday, December 15th 2020, at the age of 82 years, beloved husband of the late Irene Schneider. He leaves to cherish his memory his two children David (Debbie) Schneider and Mavis (Dennis) Koch; four grandchildren, Denton (Katelyn), Kyle, Colton (Kassi) and Jessica (Landon), and special companion of 24 years, Joyce Jones along with her family. He was predeceased by his parents Maria and Ben Schneider and his wife of 28 years, Irene on November 4, 1989.

Wes enjoyed running the grader for the city of Medicine Hat for 35 years, until he retired in 1995. In retirement, he enjoyed camping, going for coffee with the guys and fishing. His greatest joy was his grandchildren and his wish was to see his grandchildren graduate with their chosen degree and he got his wish. He lived a happy life and was loved by many. 1967 ~ RORY JAMES LEFEVER ~ 2020

It is with great sadness that the family of Rory (Rock) Lefever, the son of Rob and Sharon; sister of Sheri, and brother-in-law, Murray Craven; nieces, Haley and Sara; and nephew, Joel Craven, announce his sudden passing. The true loves of his life were his dog-babies, Gizmo and Molly, who will forever miss their Dad, and all the love that he gave them. Rory was the most caring of people who always put others first. He saw the bright side of every situation, and never hesitated to use his humor and kidding ways to make others laugh and smile. Rory started working at Farmland Supply at the age of 18 years, under his father’s guidance, eventually buying into the company and continuing to work side by side with his father. Rory’s passions included riding his Harley Davidson motorcycles. He made countless memories riding his bikes with his numerous biker friends. Elkwater Lake was also a huge part of Rory’s life. He spent many summers and Christmas’s at the lake throughout his life. He eventually purchased his own cabin in Elkwater to make his own memories and to enjoy life the way Rory knew best. He had a genuine passion for life and found immense joy in being surrounded by his family and friends. Always one to be the life of the party, Rory will remain forever in the heart of his loved ones. JENNIFER PECKHAM

1956 ~ 2020

It’s with sadness we announce that our beloved Jennifer Lynn (Mack) Peckham, 64, passed away peacefully in her home on Tuesday, December 15, 2020, after a short battle with cancer.

Jen was a beloved mother, wife and friend to many. Jennifer is survived by her children, Glen and Katie. She was an inspiration to her children in the way she lived her life, and loved them fiercely.

Born on August 4, 1956 in Medicine Hat, Jennifer was the daughter of the late Edward and Kathleen Mack. As a young woman, Jen began working at Canada Post eventually dedicating over 25 years of loyal service to her community. It was while on her daily mail route that she met her partner in life, the late Jeffrey Peckham. Together they travelled the world, having many adventures, including their greatest adventure of all – creating a family together with Glen and Katie.

Home was where Jen felt most at peace. She was a wonderful cook, spending much of her time in the kitchen. Jen loved playing music in her home, and collected records from all genres. She particularly loved 70’s rock, and felt most comfortable in a band tshirt and jeans.

Jen loved animals, particularly her cat, Domo. She had a great sense of humour and loved laughing with her children. She will always leave a legacy of care, warmth, and strong sense of family.

The family wish to extend their greatest appreciation for all of the love and care Jen received at Medicine Hat Regional Hospital during the last days of her life.

Joann Florence Schwartz, beloved wife of the late Helmer Schwartz, passed away at St. Joseph’s Home – Carmel Hospice in Medicine Hat on Sunday, December 13, 2020, at the age of 80 years. Left to cherish Joann’s memory are her children, Kalvin Schwartz, Michael Schwartz, Melanie (Travis) Reimer and Steven (Angelica) Schwartz; grandchildren, Tanner (Abby) Reimer (and their children, Maci and Gemma), Kaitlin (Ryan) Glass, Mateja Schwartz and Hudson Schwartz as well as her siblings, Ralph (Vivian) Wessner, Don (Fay) Wessner, Wayne (Loretta) Wessner and Clinton (Joy) Wessner. She was predeceased by her husband, Helmer and her parents, Emil and Leona. Joann was born on January 17, 1940, on the family farm south of Swift Current. LUCY GRAD

It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Justina (Lucy) Grad on December 11, 2020.

Lucy was born at Liebenthal, SK on October 29, 1929. Upon graduation, she attended Business College in Medicine Hat, AB and then obtained employment at the hospital in Maple Creek, SK.

She married Dad, Gerald Grad, on November 26, 1952. They lived in Mendham, SK, where Dad operated the family business, Grad’s Garage. During this time, she taught typing at the High School and worked part time at the Credit Union.

After Dad’s passing in 1987, Mom dealt with business affairs, secured lodging for her in-laws in Medicine Hat, and then also moved to Medicine Hat. In 2009 she moved to Regina and remained there until her passing. After this last move, she was always homesick for Medicine Hat, and looked forward to returning for visits.

During her younger years she played softball and bowled. She watched a lot of sports on TV including curling, the Blue Jays, and CFL football. She also got to enjoy watching the grandchildren and even the great-grandchildren play their various sports. Mom enjoyed camping trips to northern Saskatchewan, picking wild blueberries, and eating fresh fish. Mom loved to listen to music, play cards, and bake. She will be remembered for her cinnamon buns, noodles, and sugar kuchen.

Mom’s creativity and artistic abilities were reflected in her variety of hobbies. They included sewing, knitting, crocheting, cross stitching, petit point, tatting, paper tole, painting, drawing and ceramics. Her most recent passion, of which she continued well into her early 80’s, was making beautiful homemade cards. Christmas was special for Mom, as well as for us. Every Christmas, we looked forward to something homemade from Mom, even if it was as simple as a card and a scrubbie.

She was predeceased by her husband Gerald; parents Kasper and Alaysia Hirsch; in-laws Chris and Margaret Grad; and her siblings Kasper, Anna Mary, and George.

She is survived by her brother Benny (Doris) Hirsch and her sister Katherine (Frank) Schell; by her daughter Margaret (Floyd) Wist and their children Sarah (Peter) Hall and Jason; son James (Donnelly) Grad and their children Amy (Ian) Ziebart, Chris (Jen) Grad and Erin; son Michael (Laurel) Grad and their children Alicia, Kelsey (Mathew) Cohen and Jessica (Taylor) Bereti; daughter Kathleen (Dan) Baron and their children Kristin (Daniel) Laity, Erika Baron (Curtis Kozakavich), and Melissa Baron (Zac McClinton); and her cherished great-grandchildren Hannah, Hayley, Ryan, Ethan, Marcus, Victoria, Hayden, Beckett, Lily, and Owen.

The family would like to thank all of Mom’s caregivers during her time in Regina. A special thank you is extended to Parkside Extendicare for their care and arranging compassionate visits during her final days.

August 18, 1956 – December 16,2020

After a valiant battle with cancer, the family of Gayle Symmonds is heartbroken to announce her passing at the young age of 64 on December 16, 2020 at Carmel Hospice. Gayle was born in High River and lived in the Foothills area for many decades before moving to the Medicine Hat area to be close to her children. Gayle was predeceased by her husband, Henry and her mother, Isabel. She is survived by and leaves to cherish her memory her three children, Robert (Ashley), Sonja (Kris), and Tracy (Ryan), along with their families. She will be dearly missed by her sister, Lynda and sister-in-law, Mary Ann and several cousins, nieces, and nephews. Gayle lived for her grandchildren. Gayle had 14 grandchildren and one great grandchild. She was known as Nana Gayle to each of them and would do anything to make them smile and laugh. She was there to drive them to their events, play a board game, take them swimming, or do a goofy dance with them to be posted all over social media. No matter how outrageous their requests, it did not matter, as long as her grandchildren were happy. You could often find Gayle enjoying time with her two dogs, Molly and Billy, as well as spending time in her back yard. Gayle worked in many industries and was an entrepreneur, owning and operating her own restaurant for several years. Most recently, she found a passion working as a school bus driver where she thrived and genuinely enjoyed going to work each day. Our family would like to thank everyone at St. Joseph’s Home for the outstanding care and comfort given to Gayle and our family during these difficult times. A celebration of Gayle’s life will be held at a later time.
